History

Barcelona North Bus Station is situated in the old north railway station building dating from 1861, which formed part of the Zaragoza route.  The station closed in 1972, the tracks were buried and the rail service was transferred to the Arc de Triomf Station.

Nowadays, the Barcelona North Bus Station is the central point for the arrival and departure of buses and coaches in the city. Coaches depart from here for most of Catalonia, the whole of Spain and major European capitals.

The bus station shares the building with a city police station and a large municipal sports stadium where, during the 1992 Olympics the ping pong events were held. In addition, the old station yard dating from when the building was used as a train station is now the 3.16 hectare North Station Park.
